1.Marine-Infanterie-Division

History

The 1.Marine-Infanterie-Division was formed in February of 1945 in Stettinfrom Marine-Schützen-Brigade Nord.For some reason, the division has different designations in variousdocuments: The 1.Marine-Schützen-Division in the SchematischeKriegsgliederung, the 1.Marine-Division in the Feldpostübersicht, and the1.Marine-Infanterie-Division in the despatches sent from the divisionto Kriegsmarine HQ. The correct designation for this unit is 1.Marine-Infanterie-Division.The 1.Marine-Infanterie-Division was organised like a normal Heer division ofthe “neuer Art 45” type.
