History

The 2.(Preußisches) Infanterie-Regiment was formed in 1921.
With the establishment of the Wehrmacht in October of 1934, the 2.(Preußisches) Infanterie-Regiment's
I. and II.Bataillon were used as the basis of Infanterie-Regiment 2, originally known as Infanterie-Regiment Allenstein,
of the 11.Infanterie-Division. It's III.Bataillon and Ausbildung-Bataillon were used to help form
Infanterie-Regiment 23, originally known as Infanterie-Regiment Rastenburg, also of the 11.Infanterie-Division.
