Officers and men of the Kriegsmarine for service on Auxiliary Cruisers or the supply ships that supported them.

  • Individual made a long-distance voyage, or
  • Individual was wounded on a voyage, or
  • For outstanding leadership on a voyage

    Currently unknown, although it is likely that only a few hundred were awarded.
    Grades/Variations:
    This badge was awarded almost exclusively in one version, the version shown, although a higher grade was issued consisting of the same design but with a set of 15 diamonds in the branches of the swastika at the top in place of the normal swastika. Only two, possibly three such examples were awarded.
    Method of Wear:
    Worn on the lower part of the left brest pocket of the naval service tunic, underneath the Iron Cross Ist Class if awarded, or equivalent grade award.
