Each battalion (620 men) consisted of 3 Pioneer companies and a 4th
heavy MG company. *All dates below listed as date/month/year Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 1 Formed in 1940 as the Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon, attached to 7.Flieger-Division. On 5.43 renamed Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 1 with 4 companies, now attached to 1. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division. In April 1945, the 2nd company was used to form Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 10.
Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 2 Formed in February 1943 with 4 companies. In 2.44 the 3rd company was used to form the Fallschirm-Pioner-Bataillon 4, and a new 3rd company was formed later in 1944. Destroyed 19.9.44 in Brest, and reformed December 1944.

Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 4 Formed 1.44 in Italy, using the 2. coy./Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 2, with 4 companies. Part of this unit was used to form the Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 10 in April 1945.

Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 11 Formed 3.45 from as an ad-hoc unit, with 3 companies. Also known as Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon von Albert. Operated independently in the Oldenburg area.
