SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 2 “Brandenburg”

This Standarte was formed in July of 1937 at Oranienburg. Two of its Abteilung took part in the occupation of the Sudetenland in 1939. During the Invasion of Poland in 1939, this unit was used behind the lines of 8th Armee on police functions. Soon after, in late September, 1939, the formation was disbanded and used to form other units, mostly the 2nd and 5th SS-Totenkopf-Standarten, with some parts going to the 2nd SS Totenkopf Regiment. The units peak was at 2,989 in May, 1938, and its low was at 1,541 in March, 1938.
