History

This division was ordered formed on 9.24.44, but the formation was cancelled on 10.15.44. Fallschirm-Luftnachrichten-Abteilung 10 formed for the planned division was instead transferred to the Heer on 1.02.45.

The division was reformed in the Graz area on 3.01.45. The division was formed from many various units. Each Fallschirm-Jäger-Regiment and Artillerie-Regiment of the 1.Fallschirm-Jäger-Division and 4.Fallschirm-Jäger-Division in Italy, gave up an battalion for the new division. These had all arrived in Graz by 4.08.45 (9 trainloads).

On 4.17.45 the division had a strength of 10700 men.

The units were divided between Graz and Luftgau XI. Served under XXIV.AK/Pz.AOK.1 in May 1945, with parts in reserve under PzAOK.6. The main parts of the division surrendered shortly after formation to the Russians in Iglau.
