The 6.Infanterie-Regiment was formed in 1921.
With the establishment of the Wehrmacht in October of 1934, the 6.Infanterie-Regiment's
I. and II.Bataillon and Ausbildung-Bataillon were used as the basis of Infanterie-Regiment 6, originally known
as Infanterie-Regiment Lübeck, of the 12.Infanterie-Division. It's III.Bataillon
was used to help form Infanterie-Regiment 26, originally known as Infanterie-Regiment Flensburg, of the
20.Infanterie-Division. Bataillon Eutlin was used to help form Infanterie-Regiment 46,
originally known as Infanterie-Regiment Neumünster, of
