    The 462.Volksgrenadier-Division was formed in November, 1944 near Metz from the remains of the 462.Infanterie-Division destroyed during the defensive fighting for this key strategic city along the German frontier.

This is the last known order of battle of this unit when it was known as the 462.Infanterie-Division.
