History
|
This division was ordered formed on 9.24.44 (with FJR.22, 23, and 24), but
the formation was cancelled on 10.15.44 and FJR.23 went to the
2.Fallschirm-Jäger-Division, and the
Fallschirm-Luftnachrichten-Abteilung was transferred to the Heer on 1.02.45.
The division was reformed in January 1945, at Köln-Wahn from various
ad-hoc units. The division was refreshed on 3.15.45 at Wesel, by order of
Oberbefehlshaber West. The division fought in the defense of the Reichswald
and opposed the British Rhine crossing at Rees, and later surrendered in the
Ruhr-pocket.
