Formed on 15 Oct 43 with two Abt. each with four Kp. and assigned to
2.Pz.Div. Mobilized with two Abt. each with 2
light and one med Kp. on 1 Sep 39.
5.Kp. supported the invasion of Crete in May 41. It was left on Crete and
renamed 1./Pz.Abt.Kreta. Lost all panzers when transport ship sank in May
41. Regiment was expanded to eight Kp on 5 Sep 41. I.Abt renamed
III./Pz.Rgt.33 on 10 May 42. II.Abt expanded to four Kp on 1 Feb 43. I.Abt
reformed as Panther with four Kp. on 5 May 43. The regiment was decimated
in the Falaise Pocket in Aug 44. I.Abt rebuilt with four Panther Kp. in
Oct/Nov 44. II.Abt rebuilt with two Pz.IV and two StuG.Kp in Oct/Nov 44.
