History and Campaigns:
The 157th Gebirgsjager Division was created in January, 1944 from the 157th
Reserve Infantry Division. The Division fought in both the Western Alps and
in Italy for the duration of
its combat life as the 157th Gebirgs, and in 1945, the Division was renamed
as the 8th Gibirgsjager Division.
